If you have never heard of Florence Scovel Shinn, your life is about to change!!
I discovered her about 30 years ago and wish I had spent more time just practicing what I learned from her! It would have fast tracked a lot of my learning and growth! She wrote these books in the 1925 and they are full of truisms!
Mel (my VP of Everything) and Sheryl (my business partner) were discussing Florence the other day and we decided our next newsletter could focus around what she could teach all of us!
Her main book is The Game of Life and How to Play it, and she has 3 others and often the books are sold as a compilation.
We hope that this selection of profound words from her book (for me anyway!), The Game of Life - might resonate with you and helps you in some way!
Essentially, she blends pretty much everything I have learned into simple strong statements! Her comments have been proven so true in my life over the years that I can’t deny their truth!
WHAT IS YOURS BY DIVINE RIGHT
If we can manage to leave our human egos behind and surrender to the divine principles and design for our lives…..
If we can have a strong faith in that divine direction and guidance, and most importantly have a strong belief that we are given what we ask for, as long as it is ours by divine right! (This is critical!)
If you ask for things that are yours by divine right, you are asking for the right things! The things you are meant to have, not those that your ego lusts after.
Often, what we think we want and what we really need are very different!
And the spiritual realms have much better things planned for us than we can imagine!
If we are able to HOLD a vision of what we can imagine, of what we have asked for and then act on that faith, we can tap into the infinite resources that are available to us.
So number 1, want and ask for only what is yours by divine right, and use that phrase when you are asking or imagining!
“Man should only demand what is his by Divine right”. Eg If this ‘x’ is mine by divine right, I cannot lose it. If it is not, please bring me it’s equivalent.
WHAT YOU BELIEVE
“If one asks for success and prepares for failure, he will get the situation he prepared for.”
If you have asked for something, that is yours by divine right, then you must prepare for it even when there is not the slightest sign of it in sight!
Do you desire something and in your heart expect it will never happen? If so, you are right!
“Getting into the spiritual swing of things is no easy matter for the average person. The adverse thoughts of doubt and fear surge from the subconscious. They are the ‘army of aliens’, which must be put to flight. This explains why it is often ‘darkest before the dawn’.
“God doesn’t need any time and is never too late.” I love that one!
Put things into the hands of the spiritual realms, their timing is always perfect! And it’s much less stressful when you get out of the way and allow things to happen as they are supposed to!
THE LAW OF NON RESISTANCE
Florence speaks of a law of nonresistance. “Face a situation fearlessly, and there is no situation to face; it falls away of its own weight.”
“Owing to the vibratory power of words, whatever man voices, he begins to attract. People who continually speak of disease invariably attract it.”
Be very careful of what you think or speak out loud!
If it’s always negative, you will attract negative - and you will change your DNA!
Seriously, the Institute of Heartmath (www.heartmath.com) has proven it. Full of research engineers, these people have shown how negative thoughts can literally change DNA, luckily positive thoughts can repair the damaged DNA.
“Unforgiveness is the most prolific cause of disease.” Is another of her profound comments, this is now being proven true by other scientists and doctors.
“Divine ideas never conflict. The call will come at the right time.” You can substitute meeting, interview, opportunity or whatever it is you are waiting on.
If you are facing an adverse situation or difficult one, instead of letting it stress you and create disease in your body, SAY AND BELIEVE, TRULY BELIEVE, “None of these things move me”.
“When there is, in him, no emotional response to an inharmonious situation, it fades away forever, from his pathway.”
“Man always gets just what he desires when he does relinquish personal will, thereby enabling Infinite Intelligence to work through him.”
Or “I put this situation in the hands of Infinite Love and Wisdom; if this trip (or whatever you are wanting) is the Divine plan, I bless it and no longer resist, but if it is not divinely planned, I give thanks that it is now dissolved and dissipated.”
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR WORLD!
“Life is a mirror and we find only ourselves reflected in our associates”
This has been a huge lesson that has taken me a LONG time to learn and I still am not sure I have it all! Everything in my world is a reflection of me!
I have created or contributed to it and the only way to change it is to look inside me.
When I change, my outer world will reflect that change!

A GREAT WAY TO START THE DAY
I start every day with these ones, and maybe you would like to as well!
“Thy will be done today! Today is a day of completion; I give thanks for this perfect day, miracle shall follow miracle and wonders will never cease.”
Now, when I can absolutely BELIEVE it in my heart and have FAITH that it is absolutely true, THEN I will have made significant progress!
Right now, I am still working on it! LOL
BUT…. I still say it every day and am working towards believing it in every cell in my body!
PS the difference between an affirmation and what Florence talks about is belief! Affirmations we can repeat all day long and while they remain at the conscious level they do very little.
Stating something and truly BELIEVING it…… and having faith that it will happen; expecting it to happen, surrendering to what is the divine plan and letting go are the real keys!
