10 Cheap Burnout Busters You Would Never Have Thought Of…

Burnout & Resilience

Hello Everyone,

WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS YEAR?!!

It has disappeared! Something very strange has happened to time LOL - well not that funny really! It is just vaporising or that is how it feels to me! I have moved from Virginia and am settling in Dallas - just because I had not had enough moving in the last 2 years hahahahaha! Fast track to insanity!

However, I came across this list that I had started writing some time ago and thought it was timely! With so much uncertainty and disruption happening it is a reminder of ways to become grounded or still ourselves.

Here are some of the strategies that work best for me to calm myself and fight off overwhelm and burnout!

  1. Be in silence - find a quiet place with no noise - no traffic, radio, podcast, TV or any sounds if possible. You will be stunned and how your whole nervous system relaxes! If you breathe in for a count of 4, hold it for 4, breath out for 4, hold it for 4 while saying to yourself 'I AM here' it will be transformative!
  1. Be in nature - go and sit with your bare feet on the grass or earth. This recharges you - literally! With electrons!
  1. Go Camping - with your family or by yourself and you achieve both 1 and 2 PLUS another critical one - connection.
  1. Connection - connecting heart to heart with people you love and connecting to your own heart are secret weapons of burnout busting! Humans need other humans - even if they don't think they do and we are all connected all the time anyway!
  1. If camping is not for you - then try Glamping!! It's very civilised! LOL.
  1. Have a picnic in a park which grounds, connects and add the value of play into that - fly a kite - lighten up and play like children! Laugh more!
  1. Go into the garden and stay there till you feel better - that is what my cousin Juliet would say to me - and it works!! Just weeding or watching weeds grow works. Fill yourself with gratitude for the wondrous plants and rocks and beings in the garden!
  1. Create a magic moment book - this is a book full of photos or stories of wonderful times in your life - and when you need a lift - just open it and focus and relive one of those events. You can create an album online or in your phone and use it in the same way.
  1. Remember that the number 1 thing is life is how you feel about yourself - so do your best to love yourself and remind yourself you are worth loving every day - several times if necessary. And ALWAYS choose love over fear. Be aware of the basis on which you are making a decision - is it on fear - or love! Make a choice based in fear and it will bite you in some way!
  1. Unplug for an hour - get away from all technology - and avoid looking at your phone or computer immediately before bed - the frequency on the phone will influence your brain waves and you will take forever to get to sleep! I broke my own rule this week and was wide away until 2am - VERY frustrating!!

Short - and simple. These things really work so prioritize time for them and notice how different you feel after a month!

Zooties to you all and visit me in Dallas if you are here!

STOP. START. SETTLE. SUCCEED.

Last night a very good friend who is my 'soul sister' and I were chatting and we decided we were both so used to 'doing' ALL the time that we had forgotten how much 'doing' actually is in 'being' still and in silence!
