Christmas 2016
THANK YOU everyone - even though Thanksgiving has passed, it’s never too late to thank people!
THANK YOU to all the wonderful clients who have invited me to speak to their teams in the last 12 months. I hope you have had ongoing great feedback and that you have actually seen behavioral change - or at least changes in attitude or thinking - and spirit! And that you have spirit igniters popping up all over the place!
It has been a very big year for Mel and Me, and Gracie, her 3 year old has been a source of great wisdom and joy. If you have a chance to hang around a 3 year old next year - do it! I learn so much from her each time we are together and my heart always opens with JOY and laughter! And I see pure thinking in action!
Which brings me to my QI Gong retreat where we focused on opening the heart and using the heart qualities of love, gratitude, openness, respect and trust. Even though almost all my clients are corporate in some way, these qualities are still SO important. Everything in business (and life) is about feelings. And strong relationships are critical in a world where there is constant competition and a need to differentiate.
We are all HUMAN - we are people doing jobs! People are 80% emotional and 20% rational - no matter what they do! That’s why emotional intelligence (EQ) keeps coming up and the most important factor in a successful organization. Focusing on feelings and opening our hearts and trying to work with understanding makes for a much safer and more joyful workplace.
I have just left the school where we are trialing our first school joy program and it once again was fascinating!
The Principle is an amazing man who has such vision, and is a genius in terms of EQ! Every day, he has to manage primary school children, their teachers, aides, school staff and parents and he does it with grace and patience. He also has to manage the budget, strategies, learning outcomes, government initiatives and about 100 other issues that play into the community and school. I think it ranks up there in my mind as the hardest job in the world! He deserves a huge TA DA as do the team that supports him.
I am very grateful to him and the coordinators of the School Joy project there for their dedication and creativity. They are adapting the book and seeing very good results!
If we can build a program that sends our children out into the world feeling good about themselves and skilled up with EQ and the ability to self manage, we will have done very well!
I would love to think that 2017 is the year people focus on feeling good about themselves - because it is the source of all joy and allows you to spread joy!
Mel and I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season - a great rest and return from your 'Joy Spot’ refreshed and resilient!
Zooties and thanks again
Amanda and Mel
PS: Hopefully we can do Part 2 sometime soon
