The Recipe for Joy: Love (Especially Self-Love) - Fear + Gratitude = Joy

Amanda Gore JQ®: Joy Intelligence Mindset & Self-Love

If life were a math class, wouldn’t it be great if there was a formula that could solve everything? Not the calculus kind but the kind of formula that leads to something we’re all chasing: joy.

Well, I’ve came up with this recipe: Love - Fear + Gratitude = Joy.

It’s kind of like a blinding flash of the obvious, but it’s true! With a little bit of mindfulness, and a whole lot of magic, this formula isn’t just about adding or subtracting random things, each element plays a crucial role in creating the joy we all crave.

And the best part? You’re the chef in your own kitchen of life, deciding how much love, fear, and gratitude go into the mix. Spoiler alert: self-love is the key ingredient!

Love: Start with Loving Yourself

When we talk about love, it’s easy to think about loving others, family, friends, pets, or even that perfect cup of coffee in the morning. But the most important love of all? Self-love.

Imagine trying to pour from an empty cup. That’s what life feels like when you give love to everyone else but forget to show it to yourself. Self-love is the foundation of the whole formula. It’s recognizing your own worth, treating yourself with kindness, and knowing that you deserve just as much care and compassion as anyone else.

Self-love isn’t selfish; it’s the most important thing in life! How you feel about yourself affects everything! When you more love for yourself, you have more to give to others, and your capacity for joy grows. It’s like oxygen on an airplane, you’ve got to put your own mask on first before you can help anyone else. How you do that is outlined below!

Fear: Recognize It, Don’t Let It Rule You

Fear is that sneaky ingredient that tries to creep in and mess up your recipe. It’s not always loud and obvious, it can be subtle, hiding behind decisions that seem safe or practical but are really driven by anxiety or self-doubt.

One of the greatest challenges I faced this year was making a commitment to examining every decision or choice I made and finding any fear attached to it. If there was fear, it wasn’t the right decision! I had to dive deeper and really feel into knowing the right choice. When you know, there is no fear. When you think there is usually fear!

The trick here isn’t to ignore fear, but to recognize it. Ask yourself: Am I making this decision from a place of fear? Is fear driving my actions? Being conscious of fear is half the battle. Once you spot it, you can choose to subtract it from your equation. Instead of letting fear dictate your choices, ask yourself, “What would I do if fear wasn’t a factor?”

Fear often masquerades as logic or caution, but it can hold you back from living fully. By becoming aware of when you’re operating from fear, you can consciously decide to move forward with love instead. Subtracting fear isn’t about being reckless, it’s about being discerning and making room for courage, curiosity, and growth.

Gratitude: The Amplifier of Everything Good

Gratitude is like the magic ingredient that makes everything else taste better. When you add gratitude to your life, you amplify the love, and you weaken fear’s grip. Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant, from what’s wrong to what’s right.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to appreciate the little things. But gratitude doesn’t require grand gestures. It’s as simple as acknowledging the warmth of the sun on your skin, the laughter of a friend, or the fact that you woke up this morning with another chance to make the day your own. When you decide to focus on gratitude, you will be astonished at how much better you feel.

When you practice gratitude, you’re training your mind to see the good in your life, even when things are tough. And that shift in perspective opens the door to more joy.

Joy: The Beautiful Result

So, here’s where the magic happens. When you start with love (especially self-love), consciously subtract fear, and sprinkle in gratitude, what do you get? Joy.

Joy isn’t about everything being perfect, it’s about finding peace and fulfillment within yourself, no matter what’s happening around you. It’s the realization that you have the power to shape your experience of life by choosing love over fear and focusing on what you’re grateful for.

This formula works because it’s simple, but powerful. It reminds you that joy isn’t something you have to chase, it’s something you can create by consciously choosing how you live, love, and think.

Final Thoughts: You Are the Architect of Your Joy

Here’s the best part: you are the architect of your own joy. By using this formula, Love (starting with yourself) - Fear + Gratitude, you can navigate the ups and downs of life with more grace, resilience, and yes, joy.

Whenever you feel stuck or overwhelmed, come back to this equation. Check in with yourself: Am I loving myself enough? Am I letting fear steer the ship? Have I taken a moment to practice gratitude today? Each time you realign with these principles, you’re inviting more joy into your life.

So, go ahead, put on that metaphorical chef’s hat, and start mixing up some joy. You’ve got the recipe, you just need to use it. And remember, no one’s going to make this delicious dish of life better than you can.

The Best recipe for Joy - Winning Formula: Love - Fear + Gratitude = Joy

What if I told you there was a simple formula that could unlock joy? And no, it’s not some complex equation with a thousand variables that only a genius can solve. I’m talking about a straightforward, real-life, feel-good formula: Love - Fear + Gratitude = Joy.

Now, before you start picturing yourself in a lab coat, let's break this down in a way that’s a little more… you. Think of it as the recipe for a delicious dish, with each ingredient playing a crucial role in creating something utterly satisfying. Except instead of cookies, you’re whipping up joy!

Let’s dive into the formula:

Love: The Main Ingredient

Love is the starting point. It’s that rich, warm feeling that fills you up and makes everything taste sweeter. Whether it’s love for your family, friends, or even that adorable dog who always wags its tail when you come home, love sets the tone.

But love isn’t just about the sappy, romantic stuff (although that’s great too). It’s about connection. It’s that glue that holds the important pieces of your life together. It’s the spark that ignites passion and purpose. It’s the foundation for the joy you’re seeking.

The more love you pour into the mix, the richer your life becomes. And here’s the kicker: the more love you give, the more you receive. It’s like the world’s most generous ingredient. Who wouldn’t want that?

Fear: The Unwanted Ingredient (Time to Subtract It)

Now, let’s talk about fear. It’s like that funky spice in your pantry that just doesn’t belong. Fear shows up uninvited, throws off the balance of your life, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. But here’s the good news: you can subtract it from the equation.

Fear keeps you from living fully, loving deeply, and experiencing joy. It’s that nagging voice in your head that says, “What if?” or “I can’t.” Fear convinces you that staying safe and small is better than taking risks and stepping into your potential.

But what if you could subtract fear? What if, instead of letting it control your actions, you let love lead the way? Every time fear tries to creep in, remember that it doesn’t have to be part of your recipe. Replace it with trust, trust in yourself, in others, and in the journey you’re on.

Gratitude: The Secret Sauce

Here’s where things get really magical. Gratitude is the secret sauce that transforms everything. When you add gratitude to the mix, you amplify the love and subtract the fear even more. Gratitude shifts your perspective, helping you focus on what’s going right in your life, even when things aren’t perfect.

Think of gratitude as the seasoning that brings out the best in every ingredient. It adds depth, richness, and flavor to your experiences. By practicing gratitude, you’re reminding yourself of all the little (and big) things that make life beautiful, even on the tough days.

Gratitude also has this amazing ability to expand joy. It’s like that extra sprinkle of sugar that turns something good into something extraordinary. When you start seeing your life through the lens of gratitude, you’ll notice how much there is to be thankful for, and that thankfulness creates more joy.

Joy: The Delicious Result

So, let’s put it all together. When you start with love, subtract fear, and add gratitude, what do you get? Joy! It’s the delicious result of this winning formula, a life that feels lighter, brighter, and more fulfilling.

Joy isn’t just about happiness. It’s a deeper sense of peace and contentment that comes from knowing you’re aligned with what truly matters. It’s the result of living from a place of love, letting go of fear, and practicing gratitude daily.

This formula isn’t just some theoretical concept; it’s a practical guide to living a joyful life. And the best part? You get to experiment with it every day. So go ahead, stir up some joy and savor every moment.

Final Thoughts

Life is full of challenges, surprises, and moments of uncertainty, but when you have a winning formula, you can navigate it all with grace. Love - Fear + Gratitude = Joy is more than just an equation, it’s a way of living that brings out the best in you and those around you.

So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, remember your formula. Subtract the fear, pour in the love, sprinkle on some gratitude, and watch as joy bubbles up. After all, life’s too short not to enjoy the recipe for joy, right?
