Laughter really is the best medicine. There is no fun fairy, you have to be your own fun fairy. If we aren’t responsible for our own fun, nobody else will be. So sometimes we just have to break out, let go and be silly. Many studies show that people can boost their immune systems with laughter. Laughter stimulates the release of hormones called endorphins into your blood stream and these chemicals make you feel good. Endorphins are the body’s natural happy drugs!
Let Go! Science is showing that the ‘stuff’ people hang onto from past events can form the basis of future disease. So we can let go and lighten up or we can develop cancer, heart attacks or other nasty diseases! Letting go and being silly are key ways to release endorphins.
Humans can release endorphins at will, but we cannot manufacture anything as powerful as endorphins, or the drug companies would be selling trillions of dollars worth!
This simple exercise will help you release endorphins. Remember to let go of any inhibitions of being mature or sophisticated or it won’t work properley!
Hold up your index finger, turn to the person next to you, or find someone near you or behind the desk! and draw a smile with two dots and their finder! Now , you do it to them! Then hold your smiley finger up by the side of your face , look at people eyeball to eyeball and say ‘hello’ in a high pitched voice!!
I know, it’s silly - but it makes you laugh and then you release endorphins! It’s the cheapest and one of the most effective ways to bust stress that you will find! Find another 10 people to waggle your endorphin finger at and say hello!! Watch their faces and you will laugh more!
If you waggle that finger in your own face, it’s very hard to take yourself seriously! So take responsibility for your own stress levels, wave your endorphin every day a lot! And wave it in front of your own eyes at least once every day.
Teach your families this wonderfully effective stress busting technique!
And wear your finger puppet with pride!
